So rather than counting bullets, if yu roll "doubles" when you fire (00, 11, 22, 33, 44, 66, 77, 88, 99) you are out of ammo. Why not 55? The couple of things I can say we do is giving Stormtroopers (and the like) a negative modifier to be hit because of their armour, we play a lot with thermal detonators and use the dynamite card from the Bandito gang for those rules.
The biggest thing that you'll need to do is just change the flavor/wording on some of the face cards to make sense in a Star Wars world - I think if you just throw a couple of Star Wars models on the tabletop and have a quick game you'll see how easily it works.
We've talked about being ambitious and actually making Star Wars specific cards but haven't got there yet, we get distracted quite easily 😀
Let me know how you get on 👍

*I will tell you probably one of the most fun games I've had playing one of our modified versions was a take on "Cowboys And Aliens" - we had 4 aliens crash land outside of a town and it was a blast. Now for that game we did change a lot; for example we gave the aliens positive modifiers for their advanced technology, extra movement because of speed, a leap to get onto two storey buildings, but the best was the aliens ability to "chameleon" townspeople so you didn't know who was good or bad 😀
I've also done Zorro with the rules and it was fun too, but single shot pistols slowed the excitement of the game a bit and we needed to work through sword fighting more as the normal hand to hand combat can be quite "swingy". But I think with playtesting and adjusting it could work - then I can play with pirates 😀Ivor Evanshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11928387567891480797noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2096838413091248429.post-51636333913245249092022-07-01T09:11:16.737-07:002022-07-01T09:11:16.737-07:00Hello Ivor,

Not sure on the exact card holders here in NZ but can get card holders. A shop called pararubber here has pvc for sale by the meter so could be easiest to just get that (although 100km away!).. easiest for me probably is just to get some of those litko bases from amazon, however the thinness of homemade ones appeals.. my test ork's base is practically invisible using the PET I had (which is very thin hand cut from a stamp mounting page) and has very minimal reflection too.Grantnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2096838413091248429.post-65074741440684862212022-05-25T20:22:44.437-07:002022-05-25T20:22:44.437-07:00Absolutely! It still catches me off guard how popular this post continues to be even after over three years since I first published it lol

I would agree that the PVC will be more flexible - but I would also say if there isn't a high cost involved to maybe try both to see what works best for you. I've found that buying different types of card holders - regular and premium for example - gives different results, even within those same packages of holders. Plastic and metal figures can react differently to the base too - multiple times I've been placing a model with glue on its feet onto a punched base and had it literally slide off like it was on ice 🤦♂️ But if I switch that exact same model to a different base from a different card holder or type, no issue at all and it glues on perfectly. I would say stick with the 0.25 or...Thanks Grant 😀
I would say stick with the 0.25 or 0.55mm - you can certainly cut the 1mm but you risk tiny cracks at one of the four contact points on the punch. This happens a lot when the punch gets dull and doesn't make a clean cut.
In my experience with making these clear bases over the years you will eventually see the punches get dull no matter how thin your plastic is. I've read about trying to sharpen them by punching pieces of aluminum foil but I haven't really had any luck with that. Once I start to see those small cracks developing on the base after a punch it's time for a new one.
Good luck, let me know how you make out 👍
Ivor Evanshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11928387567891480797noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2096838413091248429.post-54511119537082996032022-05-15T23:41:12.171-07:002022-05-15T23:41:12.171-07:00Hi Ivor, awesome tutorial just what I was looking ...Hi Ivor, awesome tutorial just what I was looking for.
