Another year and another Zomtober completed. Painting is a real chore for me nowadays so anything over 4 figures completed for the month and I consider it a win, and for this last week I finished up another 7 models - plus a scenery piece and an initiative marker.
First up is Michonne. This is a pretty neat pose I must say.
Next is Lacey.
I tried something different with this Walker in the jumpsuit since it looked like he worked in some kind of automotive business. I made up a Texaco motor oil logo for the back of his jumpsuit. I like the idea, I just don't think the execution was where I'd like it to be.
A couple of walkers from prison set.
And the final two walkers for 2019.
I also finished one of the crashed cars from the scenery set.
I like the rust effects, but I think I may have gone overboard on the weathering, and definitely don't care for how the windows turned out.
I also finished the badge from the starter set. I used a brush flicking technique to put the little specks of blood on the badge and think it actually looks pretty good. Too bad it's a piece that will probably never be used lol!
I have this really great app on my phone and tablet called Hoopla where you can register your library card with the app and it allows you check out movies, music, television shows, and comic books - well this has allowed me to read the first 35 issues of The Walking Dead comics this month, so I decided to have a bit of fun with this last photo and change it to a pencil drawing as a nod to the comics 😀
Until next time, thanks for looking!
Ivor
Some really great painting Ivor, with another great backdrop for the photos.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite is Lacey with the pitchfork, that's one determined looking woman.
Thanks a lot John! Agreed, I really like models that aren't carrying an arsenal on them 🙂
DeleteAgree, fantastic work sir!
ReplyDeleteCheers Michal!
DeleteAtmospheric and beautiful characters, lovely minis and picutres!
ReplyDeleteMuch appreciated Phil!
DeleteGreat work Ivor & once again been to hard o yourself, you know were meant to be the critics not you right ? :) I wouldn't even try to paint a logo onto a model never mind pull it off as well as you did.
ReplyDeleteI with John on Lacey, the pitchfork just looks so wrong in the right kind of way.
Thanks Frank! Lol, you know that I'm my worst critic 😀 Definitely not enough models out there with pitchforks!
Delete*and I haven't forgotten about that figure I promised you - I think I finally found one that should work 😀*
I like the logo for the back of the mechanic figure. I have to admit I'd like a Motorhead crest and Blue Oyster Cult logos for my biker gang survivors.
ReplyDeleteCheers Phil! For last year's Zomtober I tried this for the first time and actually made a Clash album cover and put it on one of the walkers 🤣 worked pretty well, I was just lazy with this one and didn't do exactly what I did last time so not as happy with the end result. Lesson learned!
DeleteThose look great#!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Riot!
DeleteGreat job Ivor! Really like these and I love the wrecked car too, fabulous!
ReplyDeleteMuch appreciated Michael! The car was a lot fun to do 😀
DeleteGreat finale Ivor! Michonne looks dead on and I for one love the effect you've painted on the car windows. Very convincing.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot Dai, most kind 😃
DeleteA beutifully eclectic mix of figures, all very individual masterpieces, despite your reservations !
ReplyDeleteMuch too kind Joe, thank you 🙂
DeleteGreat painting and way to push through the chore of painting. The cars look great too.
ReplyDeleteI stopped watching the TV show but I need to read the comics. May one day when I have time to read. 😀
Are these for a specific rule set or just a zombie collection?
Thanks a lot Stew! Yeah, the show has had it's ups and downs, I thought there were a lot of really great moments last season and the new villain is absolutely terrifying - have yet to watch this newest season. I get my reading in when I'm in bed right before I go to sleep, I tell myself 15 minutes and then it turns into an hour 🙂
DeleteI think Mantic's TWD rules will be what I use, though honestly I'm not sure.
Very nice work, Ivor. I particularly like Lacey but they all look good. Love the badge!
ReplyDeleteCheers Martin! Lacey definitely is a favorite 😀
DeleteIts always good to get things done and you pulled it of nicely :)
ReplyDeleteVery much appreciated! It's good to try to be productive for at least one month out of the year 😀
DeleteI still need to finish my Halloween project/miniature, got stuck some days ago and I only have today to finish it, you at least have gotten more done then me :)
DeleteNice! Do you have a blog? Give me a link so I can check it out 😃
DeleteSorry no blog, the closest I have is posting pics in the Facebook groups I'm in :)
DeleteYou should really make one - it's super easy (if I can do it anyone can!) and it's a great way to keep an easily accessible log of all your hobby work.
DeleteHmm I don't know if I would have enough stuff to start a blog, and being a perfectionist means I'll never be able to really finish anything.
DeleteI would guarantee you that you have enough stuff to start your blog! I know exactly what you mean about being a perfectionist, it's exactly why I have like 10 different things going on all at once, and why I find it extremely difficult to finish something to 100% - and even if I do manage that, like my Historicon games for example, I can never leave them be, I'm always trying to improve the terrain even more.
DeleteHonestly, I think that's a big hurdle for all my games - a lot of times I feel like I can't play or host a game because the table/terrain/models etc. isn't perfect and just aren't up to my high expectations. I need to change that thought process and just have fun, life's too short 🙂
Coming up with a Blog title will also be an issue, and I'm not sure about the Address thing.
DeleteAnyways thanks for the tip I'll have a closer look to see how to get a blog going :)
Blog up and running... sort of.
DeleteBrilliant! Welcome to the madness 😀 Now you have to give me a link to the blog!
DeleteOkay, but you do know you could just go to my profile and use the link there.

DeleteGreat stuff! You have your first follower 🙂
DeleteIvor do you remember to activate the notification when you write in other bloggers posts, I noticed that I had forgotten it in the past so when some one answered on my comment I didn't know about it.
DeleteI actually don't - the few times I've hit the "notify me" button I ended up getting emails on anyone who wrote a comment. My email just completely blew up lol! I usually will just pop back to any blog post I comment on to look for the reply in a day or two.
DeleteI will tell you on a side note - and another blogger I follow did a pretty big post on this - it is a bit of a head scratcher to me if someone does comment on a post with a question and then doesn't respond to that person. That to me is such an insult, someone takes the time out of their day to not only read your blog, but writes a comment or question and you can't respond??!! It's like someone saying "hello" to you and you just ignore them 😕
Yeah I noticed that I do also get emails when I comment on my own posts, so I get emails when people answers my post and when I respond, extra un needed emails.
DeleteAbout the not responding thing, some of people have a really bad memory and if they don't get reminded to check they will forget to do so.
I get hit with way too much spam email as it is, extra emails (and the notifications) are definitely not needed.
DeleteBe glad its not a large amount of spam in a can :)
DeleteThank goodness! Yuck 🤢
DeleteFirst class as ever, I did like the pencil art.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot George! I think I'll be using the pencil art app a lot more in the future 🙂
DeleteThe weathering looks excellent! Love the dead leaves.
ReplyDeleteCheers Doc!
DeleteReally nice work on them all Ivor. The Sheriff badge was fun to do. I must sort out Lucille.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot Simon! That badge was a lot of fun to do, too bad it probably won't ever get used lol!
