In an effort to continue to complete models that have sat in boxes for years I finally finished up this line of porters and bearers that would fit into any pulpy dark Africa scenario.
I'm fairly certain that all the models are from Northstar, but I could be wrong.
They just scream that old classic movie King Solomon's Mines with Stewart Granger.
Or even the more pulpy, and completely campy, Indiana Jones rip-off Allan Quatermain and the Lost City of Gold/ King Solomon's Mines with Richard Chamberlain and a very young Sharon Stone.
Somewhere in a box I've got a fantastic set of native models from the game Congo that could work perfectly for that.
That looks terribly uncomfortable, especially after an hour or so.

Excellent work on the bearers and guides Ivor, as you say could easily see these appearing in any of those movies. Like the idea for the gaming scenario, and if it gets more figures finished from the leadpile, it has to be a good thing.

DeleteI have those same models painted up as well as a couple of forces/warbands (indigenous warriors and colonialists/explorers). Got them all ready for a game of CONGO, which I've never managed to get on the table.

Thanks Joe, it has certainly been a struggle with all the major life changes recently but it's great to start to feel creative again and take some photos (as terrible as they are, wow, I didn't really realize how bad they are until now 🤦♂️) of what I'm working on.
Delete"I never managed to get them on the table" should be the secret password phrase for every gaming club on Earth lol

Well done getting any motivation to paint figures at all in these trying times. The column of bearers looks great, mine are from both Northstar and Old Glory, I can;t recollect haing any figures for this genre from Foundry (expense). It almost wants to get out my "Jimland" game again.

O I like these! They remind me of the films you mentioned but also old black and white Tarzan flicks with Johnny Weissmuller as Tarzan.
