Zomtober 2019 Week 3 With Mantic's TWD

Much better output this week than last week as the poison ivy debacle has almost completely cleared up. I went back to survivors this time around, all from Mantic's 'The Walking Dead All Out War' game and got 9 based up.

Have you ever bought so much stuff over the course of the year that you totally forget what you actually have stashed away in boxes? Yeah, that's me in a nutshell. A lot of these models I'd totally forgot I had - like Brian Blake here from the Woodbury set. And apologies for the photos, the lighting during the day is very difficult to try to get right up in the studio 😕

Sandra.

Andy.

Derek.

Negan, from the exclusive set.

Otis.

Allen.

Carlos.

Billy.

I also painted up this really neat objective marker from the exclusive set that Negan came in. I absolutely love little pieces like this 😀

Until next time, thanks for looking!
Ivor

  1. These are an excellent addition to any group of survivours and the objective marker is also a great looking piece.

    1. Thanks Mike! Maybe someday I'll actually get that board completed 😀

  3. WOW that's an impressive lot of figures you've done! Great looking terrain bits to go along with them. Like you, it's all those little details I enjoy having. I'm not even going to mention all the stuff I've bought & stashed....

    1. Much appreciated Terry! You can never have enough detail pieces - or stuff stashed away in boxes for that matter 😃

  4. The Brian Blake miniature could also be Danny Trejo, the man with the machete.

I have the bad tendency to forget minis that I bought as I can't find them and I end up buying them again or they just pop up when I'm not looking for them or just bought them again, buying extras is not always a bad thing as I always have different ideas for paint schemes and conversions :)

    1. Very true, I hadn't thought of that.
That's me with Star Wars Legion right now - because it's Star Wars I have to buy it, and then I totally forget what I have already bought because I've yet to open anything or play a game... do you need a Chewbacca or Han Solo lol!

    2. I don't play Star Wars Legion but I do have some of the minis, but I do play Star Wars Imperial Assault when possible.

I did buy 2 ST:L Sabine Wrenns for two different paint schemes.

Well you could paint Chewbacca and Han Solo differently and use them as non heroic characters, or something else or different.

    3. I was looking at IA and it looks really good, it's just too bad that the figures weren't the same scale as Legion.
I've actually messed about with Han to see if I can get that trench coat off for more of a New Hope look 😃

    4. The funny things about IA is that it had the rules to be used in the same way as legion is being played before Legion came out.

Well if it is Han in a trenchcoat you could also make him into Mel from the Firefly serie, that is if you would ever need a such a character :)

    5. Interesting, I didn't know that 🤔
Funny enough I bought the Firefly Adventures: Brigands and Browncoats board game solely for the fact that it comes with almost the entire crew in 28mm - you can get the rest of the crew through two expansions 😀

    6. Well I had a look at the Firefly Adventures: Brigands and Browncoats game as well but the size of the minis is said to not be 28mm but bigger then that.

    7. You are absolutely right - I never opened the box until just now and they are nowhere near 28mm! I should have researched more before buying because of what someone said 🙁 Hopefully the game is at least halfway decent on it's own.

    8. Well if you ever decide to play batman the miniature game then they should fit in well size wise.

I don't know how the Firefly game is, I have also not seen any review game play on it, but it does seem to have some mechanics that one does see in miniature games.

    9. Lol! I actually have a box full of unopened Batman figures from Knight Models too 🤣 Honestly, I'm the worst at buying stuff- though I do pick up a lot of this stuff on clearance sales which makes it harder to resist.
Maybe I'll check if there is a game play videos on the Firefly game on YouTube.

And no, I know exactly what’s in the miniatures storage and the lead mountain at all times....riiiight. 😀

  11. That's a whole lot of survivors. Well done.

I always really like the combined photos you set up. They really bring the models to life.

  12. Sorry for been a bit late to comment Ivor as I'd some how seemed to have missed this post, until now that is :) you've done a wonderful job on the survivors mate & I can see what you think is the problem with the pictures as they look fantastic with all the scatter & your lovely building to make it all pop.

As for buying so much stuff in a year that you forgetting some of it, well that's a problem us low budget studios never have to worry about lol

As for a certain game taking place later today, well history shows we never do good up there so I expect the Pool to get all the points :(

    1. No worries mate! Thanks, but I do get a lot of shadows on the table because of the ceiling being so low, it is extremely frustrating.
It's those damn clearance sales that do it lol! If something is 50% or more off, even if it's a period or game I don't usually play, I can always talk myself into finding some way I can use it lol 🤣
Yeah, being at home I should think that it will be an easy match - so long as you don't play like Southampton on Friday it shouldn't be too bad 😃
